Where is Landry Ntwari?

January 9, 2017, was Landry Ntwari’s 28th birthday. That day, he travelled from Burlington, Ontario - where he was renting a room - to the Fallsview Tourist Area of Niagara Falls. He checked in to a downtown hotel and stayed the night. For reasons unknown, it was his sixth trip to Niagara Falls since October and his second visit that month.

At 7:15 p.m., on January 10, Landry was seen on video surveillance walking out of his hotel - possibly the Tower Hotel or the Marriott – at the intersection of Fallsview Boulevard and Dunn Street. He was wearing a dark wool jacket with grey sleeves, tan pants, black shoes, a red and white checkered scarf and a small tan backpack.

Landry then walked out of sight and disappeared.

There were no further sightings of Landry and he has not been heard from since. Later, some of his personal belongings were found in his hotel room. His family and Halton Police said they did not know why he went to Niagara Falls so frequently.

In 2017, Det. Joe Barr of the Halton Police told the Hamilton Spectator there was no record of Landry gambling or crossing the border. There was no evidence that he was involved in anything “untoward.” He had never gone missing before and was not known to police.

He also said that Landry’s trip didn’t appear to be a celebration of his birthday, and was instead “a trip for himself.”

Why Niagara Falls?

Was Landry involved in a relationship with someone in Niagara Falls? He reportedly “liked his privacy” and didn’t have a close network of friends. Although he frequented the city often, he was not known to hotel staff. When he went to the city, where did he go?

Landry Ntwari is described as Black, 5’5” to 5’6” tall and 154 lbs with short curly black hair.

In 2013-2014, Landry was a student at Carleton University in Ottawa. Although he was last seen in Niagara Falls, he is reported missing from Burlington.
