Heinz Arthur Meyer (born 1944) had lived in Haines Junction, Yukon, for over 20 years. He was last heard from on September 17, 2008. According to Yukon News, early in the morning on September 18, his vehicle was found abandoned on Marshall Creek Road. Heinz was 64 years old at the time of his disappearance.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2008, RCMP flew over the area where his vehicle was found. Civilian search and rescue teams, including a police dog, conducted ground searches throughout the entire day. On Thursday, RCMP and civilian search teams continued to search the woods. The next day, both the air and dog search teams were called off.
No sign of Heinz was ever found.
Heinz formerly lived in Whitehorse, Yukon and may have been seen there. He does not have any family in Yukon and his friends say he is not a hunter nor camper.
While there is no indication of foul play in his disappearance, his whereabouts remain unknown.
